Unfortunately this site is horribly out of date. BinaryTao was my first big attempt at web design and programming, and I'm keeping it online for sentimental reasons. You can visit my more up-to-date site at http://mstevenson.net.
Coming Attractions
You'll notice a lot of empty space on this site. I wish I could blame it on my affinity for minimalism. I have a habit of working on dozens of projects simultaneously and then finishing them in bursts. I'm putting my current upload-worthy projects in writing to keep me on track.
Here are a few things coming down the pipe:
Games
- Flim Flam — Harking back to the golden age of text-based gaming, Flim Flam transports the player into a three-act, second-person adventure. A teletype was never so much fun!
Tutorials
- Photoshop Blend Mode Relationships — I've worked out most of the mathematical relationships between Photoshop's layer blending modes. With this knowledge one can not only achieve some very cool effects, but can finally work completely non-destructively! Here's a vague preview of what's to come.
Software
- AquaScheme — Save and recall packages of system settings, linking together, say, a Terminal color scheme with a matching desktop background.
- Mimicry — Conceal private files inside of real or faux applications. A digital version of a decoy safe, like the rock hide-a-key.
- Criteria Slice — Permanently change the default search criteria for OS X Tiger's "command-f" search function.
- BOM Diffuse — List the file paths stored within "Bill of Materials" files (OS X installer logs). Helps in tracking down errant files installed by developers who aren't familiar with OS X's file structure conventions.
- PAX Extract — Extract individual files from the PAX archives stored within OS X's .pkg installer files.
